Placement Information

Where:

Kazo, Wakiso District, Uganda

kazo is located 5 Kilometers  northwest of Uganda’s capital city Kampala along the Kampala – Gulu highway  Road.

When:

3 week placement options

Placement 1: 9th – 30th June (Students only. Please note: Students Teachers wishing to teach in a school in Uganda, must be paired with a fully qualified teacher and therefore MUST apply for Placement 2 or 3 options)

Placement 2: 30th June – 21st July (Open to Students & Professionals)

Placement 3: 21st July – 11th August (Open to Students & Professionals)

5 week option

30th June – 4th August (Open to Students & Professionals)

Application Process and Requirements

Volunteer placements are allocated subject to the suitability of the applicant.

You must:

  • Submit an application form
  • Undergo an interview process.
  • Obtain all required travel vaccinations and anti-malaria drugs before departure.

This is an opportunity to put your energy, enthusiasm and skills to good use for a great cause. It is also important to have realistic expectations about what can be achieved during a short-term volunteering placement. Why Volunteer with UYWEFA?

  • Our student placement offers a unique opportunity to volunteer in Uganda and

experience development in action. You will have the chance to contribute

your time and energy across a range of projects in which UYWEFA are involved.

  • Placements are coordinated by our  International  volunteer coordinators and you will work side  by side with our local  volunteer team in  Ugandan  in the delivery of our services,  all the while working towards our goal of helping the most vulnerable children  and single mothers living and affected by HIV in Uganda  to lead productive lives and become positive influences on society.
  • During your time off you can explore some of the continent’s most beautiful landscapes teeming with exotic wildlife, and see for yourself why Winston Churchill dubbed Uganda as the “Pearl of Africa”.

Placement Information

Who:

We provide placements for 3rd level students from all academic backgrounds.

  • Teachers – This placement is open to Primary & Secondary school teaching students only.
  • General Skills – Our General Skills placement is open to students from all academic backgrounds.

If you feel that your background can be utilised for the benefit of your placement and the host community in Uganda, please do let us know and we can discuss a tailored placement with you Subject to its suitability to our work in Uganda.

What we provide

We provide specialized placements for student, counselors. Accountants, information and technology, sports and games, Teachers and General Skills placements (any academic background). Our placements have a structured timetable with a broad variety of volunteering activities and free time for you to rest.

You must:

  • Submit an application  to uywefavolunteering@gmail.com
  • Undergo an interview process.
  • Sign a Volunteer Agreement and Code of Conduct.
  • Obtain all required travels insurances, travel vaccinations and anti-malaria drugs before departure.

 

 

It is not possible to ‘change the world’ in just a few weeks, so it is important to have realistic expectations about the scope of short-term volunteering. This is an opportunity to learn about the challenges of international development and to better understand the ways in which we are all connected. We encourage volunteers to portray personal experiences and learning to family, friends and the wider  Europe, America and Canada on their return. Come with an open mind, a humble heart and an adventurous spirit and you will gain a new perspective on the world.
